SCENELAB / BEFORE THE FIRST FRAME

Turn an idea into
a plan you can shoot.

A free workbench for AI image and short-film creators. Plan your shots, organize character prompts, and estimate production costs before your next generation.

PRE-PRODUCTION / 01●

A traveler crosses a city after the rain.

Wide shot
Character close-up
Environment detail
Plan first. Then generate.

01 / CREATIVE WORKBENCH

Make room for better decisions.

Three independent tools. Outputs are assembled from rules and templates, without calling a language model.

Storyboard template generator

Turn a theme into editable shot cards. This tool allocates timing and supplies a shooting structure; you write the specific story.

02 / FIELD NOTES

Understand the process. Then pick a model.

Original introductory guides, available in both English and Chinese.

NOTE / 01

Write a shot card you can actually use

Turn a beautiful image into a concrete task.

Read the guide +

Give each card one primary action. Record the shot number, duration, framing, character, setting, and action. Then add camera movement, lighting, and the final state of the shot.

For example: 03 / 4 seconds / character close-up. The traveler stops and looks to the right. The camera stays still; traffic lights blur in the background. The gaze remains rightward at the end, creating a clear connection to the next shot.

After generation, check whether the action fits the duration, whether the first frame contains every necessary element, and whether positions, props, and eyelines connect. Validate with a low-cost test before making the final version.

NOTE / 02

Character consistency starts with a fixed identity

Build a reusable character master.

Read the guide +

Keep age, face shape, eyes, hair, and distinguishing features in a fixed section. Put outfit, action, expression, and environment in a shot-specific section. A character ID is an organizational label; it does not make a model remember the person.

Keep a clear character reference and records from multiple angles. Test identity with the same model and settings before changing the outfit or setting. References and seeds can support reproducibility but cannot guarantee consistency across all shots.

Check eye color, hairline, collars, and jewelry. When you spot drift, change the relevant part and record effective settings instead of rewriting the entire prompt every time.

NOTE / 03

Budget for the attempts, not just the final clip

Include failures and retries in the estimate.

Read the guide +

Video budget = shots × seconds per shot × average attempts × price per second. Attempts include the first generation: two failed tries followed by a successful third try count as 3.

Calculate images using the total number generated. Convert credit, per-job, or subscription pricing into a comparable rate using your own plan. If that conversion is unreliable, enter the subscription under other project costs and avoid counting it twice.

Local electricity = average whole-system watts ÷ 1000 × hours × electricity price per kWh. Add labor, storage, and depreciation to other costs if needed. Test the crucial shots before committing to a full production.

03 / SHOWCASE

Your next work starts here.

These are presentation format examples, not published projects. Use this space to share finished work, process, and methods others can reuse.

Starting from one image

Process / still → motion

Compare the first frame, a test clip, and the final shot to explain a useful revision.

SCENELAB / IN PROGRESS

Let each project inform the next.

SceneLab is an independent creative tools site in development. This first version focuses on preparation. There are no accounts; tool inputs are processed in the current browser page and are not sent to a server. The hosting provider may still process standard access logs.

Closing or refreshing clears the current tool inputs. Download any results you want to keep. This site does not store uploaded projects or provide online image or video generation.
